Sky and Romano saying there is a verbal agreement between Liverpool and the player, with negotiations with the Reds and Sunderland said to be progressing well. RB Leipzig are reportedly now waiting for the call.
Liverpool would need to reach a new agreement with Leipzig to take Geeertruida for the remainder of the season. Sunderland would then have to cancel his loan, paving the way for him to effectively return to Leipzig before joining us BUT Sunderland would need to get in a replacement.
I think this deal will go through unlike the Guehi cock up.

1st February 2026 at 2:36 pm #238253Got to keep reinforcing and not pissing about. Villa haven’t ‘pissed about’ getting the excellent Douglas Luis and Abraham will score a few for them. Makes our quest for top four harder (although we can easily self sabotage without anyone’s help).
We MUST get this deal over the line.
Come on Brentford!

1st February 2026 at 3:33 pm #238270Hoping we do sign Geeertruida just to see Sean’s spelling of his name.

1st February 2026 at 6:00 pm #238312Did I say that about Quansah? Canβt remember that. Think he wasnβt Guehi level (i.e. Pushing for van dijkβs place) just now. But homegrown. If alternative is to bring in another average player, Iβm against it. Not good transfer strategy. Hope Iβm wrong.

1st February 2026 at 6:27 pm #238313Geertruida deal is off.
Apparently Sunderland need a replacement for him to be in place to sanction it.
I wonder which deal we’ll do instead, if any? Anything can happen.

1st February 2026 at 8:33 pm #238323From The Echo….
Liverpool are eyeing up a move to sign Roland Sallai as an alternative to Lutsharel Geertruida before the end of the January transfer window, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Galatasaray right midfielder Sallai is represented by the same agent as Curtis Jones and has already played with Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez at international level.
I’ve stuck a tenner on us signing……

2nd February 2026 at 6:19 am #238334“Song, Guehi all over again. Groundhog Day.”
Not a problem Rob, deals fall through all the time for various reasons. And the transfer window is still open , well for today at least, so anything could happen.
Main thing is to sign the top players like Jacquet, though he was going to join Chelsea, but changed his mind.
Chelsea offered exactly the same deal as Liverpool but over the past 48 hours, when it became apparent that Mamadou Sarr would be returning to Chelsea and Josh Acheampong was staying, the player changed his mind and decided to move to Liverpool.

2nd February 2026 at 6:19 am #238335But hear what you’re saying, we need a Jacquet for winter not one for summer.
Don’t know much about him apart from I thought Chelsea were in for him with one of their mega contracts and that Utd and a few others where sniffing. Not the tallest so that might upset a few on here, but I’ll leave the detailed reports to others (look up transfermarkt, see games played, see games missed through injury, declare oneself a genius and mention it at all opportunities).

2nd February 2026 at 6:36 am #238339Don’t know much about Jacquet, though he’s being hyped up (by Fabrizio Romano) as one of one of the most talented CBs in the world.
If he has the same impact on our defence, that his fellow Frenchman Ekitike has had on our attack, we could be on to a good one.
He’s still quite young though, only 20, and hasn’t been capped at senior level by France (yet).
As for his height at 6’2″, that’s the absolute minimum I would accept for a CB, as Joe Gomez is 6’2″ also, and he’s done quite well in his career.

2nd February 2026 at 11:01 am #238373Too much money, I’m sorry. We should have kids ready to be unleashed. 60m???
And not till Summer; So would either/or in Konate-Gomez be leaving the club to raise funds?
