“Wirtz had two disciplined midfielders behind him so it gave him license to roam wherever he wanted to and not need to track back and fill holes in the midfield. We don’t have the players capable to play midfield like that.”
So how exactly did Slot win the league so easily, tied up so early in April, without two disciplined midfielders?
Yet another excuse for Wirtz, he may well come good for Liverpool, but as I said earlier, all the top players usually succeed fairly soon after they join Liverpool, I mean even Isak is already coming good, after overcoming his serious injury in his first season.
Wirtz is simply not imposing himself on the game and grabbing it by the scruff of the neck at Liverpool like say Coutinho used to do.
