Everybody remembers that, Moonster. You took flak because no such “fire sale of talent” took place last summer or following on from whenever it was you first chose to use that phrase. On the contrary, last summer saw the arrival of numerous players, added to by the purchase of Jacquet in January, at a considerable net cost to the club. Some sale that, eh? Huge question marks remain over how successful those players turn out to be in the long run but the one thing you can’t successfully argue is that last summer was a fire sale. It clearly wasn’t.
