Normally his partner pushes up and deals with any incoming long balls and Van Dijk clears up.
I dont really think his form this season has anything to do with him declining, its just about consistency.
The best defense in the world always has one thing in common and that is that the back four or five or what ever it may be plays every game together.
We have not had one consistent lineup this season, either its our left or right back, its Konate or Alison that is out.
So we keep fielding a defense that has only had 3-4 games together it that much.
What i would like to slate Van Dijk for this season is how he has handled the captaincy, his body language says a lot about how we are playing.
Shrugging his shoulders, showing frustration, pointing the finger at times, acting all surprised when he commits a foul.
It’s something I never saw Henderson do, who remains my favorite captain of all times. Neither did Milner any of this…
Im hoping that Robbo will show some leadership right now like Milner did, I dont even get why we have not used him as a emergency righback.
I even miss Matip’s leadership right now and he was the most quiet guy we ever had. He just showed up and meant business. No excuses, no bullshit, just get on with it.
Do you think Henderson or Milner would have passed the ball around for 7 minutes while being a man down, or stating that they thought they were in control of the game when they conceded.
Cause I’m pretty sure Henderson would have showed up for the interview and taken full responsibility and given out a sincere apology to the fans for being that nonchalant and disrespectful to our opposition.
I think Klopp would have been waiting for them frothing by the mouth in anger if that happened under him.
