I always liked the old way of playing system where full-backs would always have the license to push forward, but a contribution of that would come from a right-sided midfielder which in the modern day I don’t see as a clear and obvious.

In an England set up in the most recent times, I saw this in Gary Neville and David Beckham.

I know Trent has contributed a lot of goals, but I must be in the minority of minority in my perception of him as right-back. I’ve never seen him as that. Very rare in matches have I seen him stick to his position or make a tackle supporting a fellow team mate.

What would happen if he is taken? Would that shatter his confidence?

He is a right-sided midfielder in my eyes. Southgate doesn’t implement that style as he is more cautious. What other alternatives are there taking into consideration injuries?
