Yeah Sean, I think De Gea being there is not helping the transition to playing out from the back. It’s a tricky one. He’s a great shot stopper but is often rooted to his line and has poor distribution. On the other hand, he’s one of the club’s top earners. I think Ten Hag would have liked to have replaced him but saw other more pressing areas which needed reinforcing first. He’s already proven to be ruthless in dropping Maguire and Ronaldo and I think, but for a lack of a replacement, would not have hesitated to do the same with De Gea. It’s going to be a slow process. Definitely signs showing in Utd’s play so far, albeit it’s in patches rather than an entire game. Way too early to make any judgements either way.
