I had no idea these were in the offing to be fiar, totally by passed me, Newcastle fans and club deserve any owner that isnt Mike Cashly!! but the bloke who got united ended up getting ot for £15m?! thats shocking, he got 50% for a £10m stake then 2 years of court battles meant the co owner had to give his 50% for just £5m!! and they are doing so well with all this back room turmoil….

Hmhh? some time it’s better the devil you know?

Look at the angst at Arsenal, United and West Ham’s re the owners there’s no guarantee who comes in will be better and sometimes they’re worse.

true 999 but really, if you discount human rights then as an owner they would surely be better for the club and its ambitions than ashley?!

Stevo, not sure mate there’s little owners can contribute to now except for infrastructure. Transfer funding has to come from what the Club generate to stay within the FFP rulings.

im sure that a properly run Newcastle could generate and spoend a hell of a lot more than they do now and actually get up there with the likes of Everton etc….makes a big difference, ashley has run it in to the ground, its by sheer luck they are still in the PL

Very possibly Stevo and no Ashley might bring back more fans and generate more revenues.

But again I say Newcastle fans have to be careful what they wish for look what happend to Liverpool with Hicks and Gillette and at the time of them buying the Club Liverpool fans were estatic fortunately for them Fenway came along and dug them out of a hole.

New owners are very unpredictable as to whether they can be positive or negative for the Club and once they’ve got you it’s difficult to escape as you well know.

id take the local chippy of ahsley if i was a newcastle fan…and being arabs they will have plans and vision to gorw the club and generate revenue and reinvest…even with FFFP its a huge step up form where they are now

Could be Stevo but Newcastle fans have been here before time will tell.

I think any Arab owners will look at the City model, where they have re built the club from top to toe and are still investing in the infra structure, so, you need people who love the game as well as putting a plan to take it forward. Over the last 10 years City have done that….now..on to the decade, whatever that may be

Given how bad Ashley is, I think the roll of the dice is likely to end up good for them. You can get worse, I mean that Italian guy who owned Leeds for a while was worse but I couldn’t name too many more. H&G were already named and yes, they were worse too, of course.

Maybe they wont be allowed to invest like Romay did it @ Chelsea, but that kind of investment would make Newcastle United a superpower in the next 5-10 years, matbe even SHU too. They would be allowed to invest @ least £100m-£150m each transfer window.

Mav, over the last 3 financial years Newcastle had a £41m loss followed by two seasons of circa £18m profit realistically there’s no way Newcastle would currently be able to fund transfer expenditure of £100m/£150m and remain within the FFP rules.

Current PL FFP rules would only allow them to spend a little over £30m in a financial year

9s-I’m sure they would find a way to do business, like PSG have done it.

Mav, “Uefa had initially ruled the accounts complied with financial fair play (FFP) before launching a review. Cas ruled European football’s governing body had missed a deadline for its review. However, PSG remain under investigation for their 2017-18 finances.”

UEFA remain focussed on PSG’s compliance with FFP which has led to zero spending from them in 2019/20.

Newcastle not being in Europe wouldn’t initially have to worry about complying with UEFA’s FFP rules which is driving down PSG’s spending now similarly Manchester City’s too but under the PL’s FFP rules Newcastle would currently struggle to spend more than circa £30m net per fy because transfer spending has to be driven by monies made.

It’s just fanciful to suggest Newcastle would be able to spend £100m/£150m per transfer window.

FFP has curtailed the spending of super rich owners at all of Chelsea, City and PSG now and rightly so.

It’s just fanciful to suggest Newcastle would be able to spend £100m/£150m per transfer window. They were allowed to spend over £70m buying Joelington for over £40m and Sain-Maxim for over £30m,before they were taken over. This summer they agreed to sign V.Lazaro from Inter on loan with obligation to buy for £24m,so they can spend,it seems??
As for PSG,Icardi[loan] with permanent deal for £80m in the summer,P.Sarabia for £36m,A.Diallo for £40m,I.Gueye for close to £50m,K.Navas for £18m,would suggest that UEFA/FIFA are somewhat SOFT on PSG.
Fanciful or not,if these takeovers were to materialise,I would expect Newcastle to be turned into a superpower within the next 5 years,10 max!

Mav, transfers in at Newcastle this season were circa £64m and transfers out circa £32m leaving a balance spookily around the level that I indicated Newcastle could spend up to without breaking the PL FFP rules.

If you analyse PSG’s spend this season you will find that they more or less broke even on transfers taking into account sales in and sales out.

£80m for Icardi in the Summer won’t be a problem for PSG because almost certainly sell one of Mbappe or Neymar in the Summer.

I respect your rights to your opinion that if Newcastle are purchased by the Saudi’s they will become a Superpower within 5/10 years we’ll see I have my doubts, in reality there are very few Superpowers in football but if anyone deserves a bit of a break it’s Newcastle’s long suffering fans so whatever positivity emerges for them will be long overdue and I’ll be pleased for them.
